MY CABINET LINE UP
The formation of the cabinet line-up is all important as Lionism is all about teamwork, teamwork and teamwork. I had secured the services of Past President Kenny Koay (Cabinet Secretary) and Past President Tan Team Chye (Cabinet Treasurer) as my twin pillars. I had also invited 9 Lions as Region Chairmen, 21 Lions as Zone Chairmen and 48 Lions as District Chairmen. Another 14 Lions as Regional Committee Chairmen completed my cabinet. The Cabinet Officers were officially invited after receiving consent from their respective Lions Clubs.
Two past district governors were invited to serve in the cabinet too as they had a wealth of experience and wisdom. Past District Governor Dr. Chin Yoon Hiap would look after the district’s Lions Eyes bank, a essential mainstay in Lionism. Past District Governor ST Yeoh would serve as the Honorary District Committee Chairman.
Together, this wonderful team would administer District 308B which comprised the whole of Peninsula Malaysia (except southern part of Johor which was part of 308A).

CABINET MEETING - 20/07/1997 @ 8.30am
The Cabinet Meeting was held at Crystal Ballroom, Bayview Beach Resort, Penang, from 8am to 4.30pm. There were two breaks: morning tea and lunch. By the end of the meeting, a farewell tea (party) was given before the cabinet officers made their way home.
They would then start their responsibilities as cabinet officers to meet the clubs in their respective regions and zones and deliver the messages as dictated in their portfolios. The clubs would not fall short of speakers at their club meetings as these district chairmen had much to share on their portfolios.

I informed the cabinet officers that their appointment as
cabinet officers was a prestigious honor. Their appointment brought pride to
their Home Club. It was essential for them to fulfill their duties in their
positions.
Each Cabinet Officer was required to present a report on the
activities of the respective Lions Club they visited. I reassured them that
there would be reimbursement for their expenses related to travel and
accommodation for cabinet meetings, provided they attended all meetings. These were
the incentives I assured my cabinet officers. I was happy that by the end
of my term, I was able to reimburse them a substantial amount from the dues
collected and not utilized. This was made possible by the diligent work of my
treasurer, Lion Tan Team Chye, in managing the accounts effectively.
MEETINGS OF PAST OFFICERS OF THE LIONS ASSOCIATION
There is a belief that the best time to brainstorm one’s mind is to do it during the wee hours of the morning. True no? With this in mind and with the consultation of my Council Chairman, Shiva Banerjee, I arranged the POA Meeting at 11.30pm! It was an odd hour for all PCCs and PDGs. The agenda included the bifurcation of the district and the follow-ups of the bifurcation. The meeting was adjourned after midnight! The Leaders of Multiple District 308 were ready to roar!!
