Peace Poster Contest - Selangor

A nation-wide District Peace Poster Contest was held in every state. District Chairman, David Chang did a splendid job as he was able to galvanise 15 contests throughout the country. Our target audience was students between the ages of 11 and 13 years. The theme was “A World In Harmony”.

I made it a point to attend one such event in Selangor. DC David Chang's home club (Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro) organized the finale event on 16
th November 1997. I could see a “riot of colors” when I viewed the young talents of Petaling Jaya sharing their viewpoints on “A World in Harmony”.

If you want to promote a world of harmony, you should start with the young ones!

Extract of my speech:
"What better way 'to create and foster a spirit of understanding amongst the peoples of the world' than to see them from the children's point of view. This is so when children everywhere are harboring dreams of a world in harmony. You have challenged the participants to depict their thoughts of harmony on paper, the resulting images have the power to challenge adult leaders of the world to work towards harmony."

30 art pieces were received for final judging in the Peace Poster Contest.
