14/8/1997 LC of Kota Baru - A Project & Installation
This was my 2nd visit to Kota Baru as I was here just a month ago. I was warmly greeted by the Lions of Kota Bahru. Japanese Youth Exchange student Miss Miho Shimizu was also among the greeters. Arigato gozaimasu!
At the invitation of the Lions Club of KB, I attended a project at the Kelantan Spastic Children Centre. We had a tea reception and I got to know the KB Lions better. The club donated foodstuffs to the centre as well as books and stationery to the thirty inmates. There were smiles and excitement written all over these special needs children. I congratulated the Organising Chairman, Katherine Wong for a job well done as it was her pioneer project.
On the same evening, I attended the installation of the Lions Club of Kota Baru at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building. I installed Lion Benedict Cheang as the 37th President. Meanwhile, VDG Chee Boon Leong initiated the induction ceremony to welcome 2 new members. Veteran Lion, Peter Cheng did a splendid job as Organising Chairman and I must add that KB hospitality was gracious!
