Youth Outreach Program - Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro
Youth play an important role in all segments of society. So, I must congratulate the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro for launching a “Youth Outreach Program”, whereby the voice of youth will be heard.
District Chairman for Youth Outreach, Shirley Koh got her home club to invite members of their 4 Leo Clubs to attend the maiden project and the club invited me to participate and motivate the Leos.

On 19/10/1997 at 8.00 am, PJ Metro Lion President Chwee Chee Oon picked me up from my hotel and drove to the venue. In all, there were about 40 participants including the Leos from 4 Leo Clubs. The conference focused on education and volunteerism: How Leos, as youth, can assist in volunteering work. I couldn’t resist getting myself involved and gave some inputs to the dialogues and discussions. Much to my surprise, the Leos were conversant and articulated their ideas very well.

Kudos to the Lions Club of PJ Metro for initiating their outreach programmes to the youth. My sincere hope that other Lions Clubs would emulate PJ Metro and sponsor Leo Clubs all over the country.
As Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela would rightly affirm, “The Youth of Today are the Leaders of Tomorrow”.
