Lions Club of the Pearl of the Orient
October was designated as Membership Growth Month. Lucy and I were invited attend the Lions Club of the Pearl of the Orient (LCPOO) Social Meeting cum Dinner. It was brought to my attention that the club would welcome two new members, an event I eagerly anticipated as it signified the introduction of new individuals into Lionism.
President Linda Moo Siew Yoong, along with past presidents of LCPOO, welcomed us upon our arrival to the waiting room. President Linda, wife of an Exco MP, was a kind-hearted individual who ensured we were comfortable that evening. She introduced us to her fellow members.
During that evening, I had the privilege of inducting two new members, namely Chuah Eng Hock and Lee Chuan Teong. The induction ceremony was a significant highlight of the event. Visiting Lions and guests occupied six round tables. The evening concluded with a lively karaoke session.
In my speech, I emphasized the necessity for the Lions’ fraternity in Malaysia to continue growing in order to effectively impact community service. Therefore, October has been specifically designated as Membership Growth Month. We take pride in the fact that our district has welcomed 70 new members from various clubs across the country.
