Segamat, Johor

Segamat

My sojourn in Johore ended with a trip to Segamat on 26th July. I drove my trusted Peugeot 405 for the hour and a half drive to Segamat from Muar. The town originated from two Malay words “segar” and “amat” which means very refreshing. And it was indeed very refreshing to be greeted by Lions in their yellow vests. Region 9 Chairman, Chew Boon Chew and Zone Chairman Teh Ee Kiam were my escorts throughout my two days’ stay. Great company!

The event was a Joint Installation of the Lions and Lioness Club of Segamat. The Lions were led by President, Tan Teck Aun and the Lioness by President, Ummi Nor Saadiah as they made the pledge. The clubs later donated RM3K to the Segamat Tong Hua Hemodialysis Centre. I was very delighted to meet up with Past District Governor James Pang and his wife Qwee Moy during the ceremony. Personally, I was very impressed with the professionalism of the clubs in Segamat in conducting the ceremony.

On the next morning, the club members took me to their dialysis Centre to witness the on-going activities. Well done Segamat!
