Lions Club of Klang

Region 5 District Chairman for Leo Clubs, Tai Lung Khoon informed me that he was going to install 6 Leo Clubs under the sponsorship of the Lions Club of Klang on 12th July 1998. Meanwhile, Past District Governor Leong A Sam would install the Lions committee. I was invited to witness the occasion and say a few words. A bit odd, but an honour, nonetheless!

Together with Past District Governor Oon Peng Nam and Lion Mak Siew Foon, Tai, and Leong were on hand to receive me at Subang Airport. Our destination was a school hall in Klang.

It was really a roaring welcome, unlike the usual Lions Club installations. The Lions dignitaries were greeted by Leos and students, lined up from the school gate to the school hall! The hall was packed with Lions and Leos from the six clubs, amongst them SMK La Salle, Klang, and SMK Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (STAR) Klang.

'Well done!'
In my speech, I encouraged the Lions Club of Klang, as the “parent” club, to practice a family approach when they interact with the sponsored Leo Clubs. They must mentor the Leos and the Alpha Leos needed to be kept on their toes with hands-on projects. Then, I resorted to story-telling, stories of Lionism, to keep the young Leos attentive. I praised the Members of Klang Lions Club for their commendable work thus far. Positive compliments always get better results!
