Sungai Petani
On the evening of 26th September 1997, Lion Hardev had reserved that night for his special Lions’ function. It was the installation ceremony of the President Jegadeeson Thavasu and his Board of Directors.
Earlier in the afternoon, he invited me for a Northern Indian lunch first. Guess what? It was the best tandoori chicken I ever had! The chicken was well marinated in yogurt and spices; fresh from the cylindrical clay oven!
That evening, I installed Lion Jaga as the 22nd President of the Lions Club of Sungai Petani. Hardev would be elected as President sooner or later with the avowed purpose of rejuvenating the club by bringing in new blood.
At the fellowship, I caught up with an old friend, Lion Dr. N.S. Sanan at the installation and we reminisced the good old times we had together.

I was also introduced to the Sungai Petani OCPD who was the Special Guest at the function. I shared with the OCPD about the MOU between the Lions and PDRM at the national level. He immediately agreed to collaborate with the SP Lions for future projects and activities.

and society, Lions need to reach out to find newer and more innovative approaches
to solve the many challenges. The township of Sungai Petani is expanding and needs more Lions clubs to accomplish most of your goals and continue the legacy of the Lions motto "We Serve".
